I kept trying to do it the way you suggested, but using the drop down menus, but that didn't seem to work. My documents would still open with the double spaced lines which is the normal style setting.

I'm running Word and want to change my normal template but everything I've tried doesn't work. I specifically don't like the double spacing of llines. I had it set correctly but a computer glitch caused the normal to reset to the orginal version, and now I can't figure out how to change it back. I've tried changing it, setting it as default and saving it as a template, but nothing works. I'm fustrated.
