Monsoon is an interesting time to travel to Goa. The summer heat is finally receding, and the heavy rains wash away the dust of the hot months till the heat is only a distant memory. After the heat of the summer months, the smell of the first rains is an intoxicating experience that can seldom be matched by anything else. The constant rainfall infuses new life in the listless earth even as the seas express their joy by behaving like boisterous schoolboys.
With greenery all around, this is the best time to go to Goa if you want to commune with nature. Most of the beaches and water sports activities are closed due to the rough seas and very few beachside shacks stay open. Swimming and venturing out into the sea is strictly forbidden during this season. But the rest of Goa really blooms under the rains.
A trip to one of the spice plantations is especially recommended. The roads are lined with greenery on both sides and this could be the best time to take a road trip to Goa. But you will have to take extra care while driving as the roads turn slippery. You can still get some pocket-friendly deals during this season. Goa manages to retain its magic in every season. It just takes different forms according to the season. While there truly is no single best time to visit Goa, it is up to you to make the best of your trip.

Cheap flights further strengthen the fact that Goa can surely be visited during the off season. During this time, the airfare is usually low. I got good deals by booking tickets from Indigo and Air Asia. So, be kind to your pocket and save the extra bucks for the next holiday. During April to September, Goa is less touristy and more local.
So, if you are willing to see the real Goa, then this is the perfect time. If you want to see how Goa feels like without the crowded markets and jam-packed shacks, then ditch the popular tourist attractions and head towards the less-explored places. Also, you can strike a conversation with the locals, who will be more than happy to listen to your travel tales.
To quench my thirst of experiencing solace and peace, I went to see Bogmalo Beach- the nearest beach from the airport, as soon as my flight landed at night. All I could listen there was the calming sound of waves. The beach at that particular moment was simply spellbinding!!! Your friends will tell you to stick around the well-known party hub- Baga-Calangute, but I would suggest you to explore as much as possible.
Stay near different beaches each day. I found Ashwem Beach to be the best. It was very clean, and only a few travellers could be seen there. The sand near the shore was fine and the waves were perfect in case one feels like going inside. I found tranquility and a sense of emotional contentment while I was spending my time at this particular beach. You will be saving a lot of money while booking accommodation in the off season.
It faces the Ashwem Beach, and is simply wow when it comes to its location, ambience and facilities. I was able to make the most of my beach-time as well as save my money. I am pretty sure that staying in such a luxurious beach cottage during the peak season generally between October and March would have definitely costed me a fortune.
Who said you will not get to see the nightlife during the off season? Prove them wrong. The monsoons usually hit Goa in the first half of June, which cools it down and turns the countryside to a lush shade of green. With Goa in the monsoons, it can sometimes rain all day, and the power can go off in some hotels and houses. We recommend staying in a modern accommodation — it is the perfect season to spend some money on some luxury. However, if you are travelling on your own and are looking to meet other travellers, then Goa has plenty of hostels.
Beaches at this time of year are a no-go; waters will be choppy and not safe for swimming. Likewise, there are unlikely to be any water sports on offer.
We recommend choosing a beach in North Goa. For quieter travellers, staying around Anjuna or Vagator is a better choice.
